Case Study: Consumer Unit Upgrade & Distribution Board Consolidation

We were called to an old farmhouse in Buxton during the middle of winter to assess an ageing electrical installation that had evolved over many years. The property had multiple old distribution boards, with messy, poorly organised wiring and outdated protection that no longer met current safety standards. Our work involved carefully tracing and rationalising existing circuits, removing redundant boards, and consolidating everything into a single modern distribution board. The new installation was fitted with RCD protection and AFDD technology to significantly improve protection against electric shock, fire risk, and electrical faults. Despite the challenges of working in a rural property and cold conditions, the result was a much cleaner, safer and more reliable electrical system. The upgraded setup is now fully compliant with current regulations, easier to maintain, and provides the homeowners with confidence that their property is properly protected for the future.

Case Study: Meter & Main Supply Installation – 19-Flat New Build

We were appointed to carry out the electrical infrastructure works for a new-build residential development comprising 19 flats. The project involved installing all meters and fuse disconnects within a dedicated plant room, ensuring a safe, organised and compliant main distribution setup for the entire building.

Our team installed cable tray, trunking and containment systems to neatly route and protect the incoming supplies, maintaining clear segregation and accessibility for future maintenance. Each apartment supply was connected using correctly sized 25mm meter tails, ensuring reliable performance and compliance with current standards.

The finished installation delivered a clean, professional plant room layout with clearly identified supplies, safe isolation points and robust containment throughout—providing the client and future residents with a dependable and well-structured electrical distribution system from day one.

Case Study: Security & Life-Safety System Installations Across Multiple Sites

We’ve delivered a wide range of security and life-safety installations for clients across commercial, residential, and managed properties, covering everything from fire alarm systems to access control, and including warden call and nurse call solutions. Our work also encompasses emergency lighting and integrated safety upgrades, all tailored to each site’s layout, usage, and risk profile.

Every project begins with a thorough assessment of the building’s needs. Whether upgrading older systems or installing complete solutions in new developments, we focus on reliability, compliance, and ease of use. From ensuring safe evacuation and protecting residents with nurse and warden call systems, to controlling access in offices or monitoring fire safety, our installations provide practical, robust protection for people, property, and operations alike.

Case Study: CCTV System Upgrade, Comms Cabinet Reorganisation & Consumer Unit Upgrade

We were brought in to improve and rationalise a multi-camera CCTV installation that had developed over time and become difficult to manage and maintain. The existing comms cabinet was overcrowded, poorly organised and lacked safe cable management, making future maintenance and expansion challenging.

Our team carried out a full tidy and reorganisation of the communications cabinet, re-routing and clearly labelling cabling to improve accessibility and reliability. The CCTV PoE switches were relocated to the dry riser area, providing a more suitable environment for the equipment and freeing up valuable space within the cabinet.

As part of the project, we also upgraded the consumer unit supplying the system to ensure modern protection and improved electrical safety. The new unit provides reliable fault protection and supports the demands of the upgraded CCTV infrastructure.

The result was a cleaner, safer and more structured installation with improved ventilation, easier maintenance access and a more resilient CCTV network. The upgraded layout now supports future expansion and ensures the system remains reliable, compliant and straightforward to service.

Case Study: Distribution Board Upgrade & Relocation

We were asked to assess an ageing distribution board in a domestic garage that had become difficult and unsafe for the homeowner to access due to its height. The existing unit was outdated, positioned too high on the wall, and lacked the modern protection expected in today’s installations.

Our solution was to safely isolate and remove the old board, then install a new consumer unit in a more practical, accessible position within the garage. The relocation meant the homeowner could easily reach the switches and isolation points when needed, improving both safety and convenience. The new unit was fitted with modern protective devices, providing enhanced protection against electrical faults and bringing the installation in line with current standards.

The result was a safer, tidier and far more user-friendly setup, giving the homeowner confidence in their electrics and making day-to-day operation and future maintenance much easier.
